In this Double Dose of Tutorials, We’ll cover how to first install VOCR, and then demo it in use.
VOCR is a stand alone app that allows VoiceOver users to OCR the screen for text in inaccessible windows. A common use for this type of utility is navigating your way through inaccessible installer, Finding a button in an inaccessible plug-in Window, etc etc. VOCR is an open source app and you can grab it from its GitHub page.
Once on the VOCR page, you can jump by headings to get to the ReadMe, and the link to download it.
Also if you are using the previous version of VOCR that required Keyboard Maestro there are instructions on the GitHub page about how to uninstall that older version and install the new stand alone version. Keep in mind the new stand alone version requires you to be running MacOS 10.15 Catalina or later, and works on both Intel and M1 Macs.
